Rose gold
Gold alloyed with copper for a warm pink color, characteristic of Retro jewelry.
Rose gold owes its color to copper in the alloy. It appears in nineteenth-century Russian and Victorian jewelry, but it is most associated with the Retro period of the late 1930s and 1940s, when designers combined rose and yellow gold in bold, sculptural pieces.
What to look for
Rose gold is marked with its karat like yellow gold. Its color can vary from pale pink to deep red depending on the alloy.
