Moonstone
A feldspar that shows a soft, floating blue or white sheen, called adularescence.
Moonstone was a favourite of Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts jewelers, who preferred its quiet glow to the sparkle of diamonds. It is almost always cut as a cabochon.
What to look for
The best moonstones are clear with a blue sheen that moves across the whole stone. Moonstone splits easily along internal planes, so check for cracks and chips.
