Lariat

A long necklace with no clasp, whose ends are knotted or passed through a loop.

The lariat appeared in the Edwardian period and was fashionable in the 1920s, when long necklaces suited the dresses of the day. It returns regularly in gold and pearls.

What to look for

Check the ends and any slide or loop that holds them, since they take the most wear.
