Dress clip
A jewel with a hinged clip on the back, made to fasten to a neckline, lapel or hat.
A dress clip has a hinged, flat-backed clip instead of a pin, so it can be fastened to the edge of a neckline, a lapel, a belt or a hat. Clips were among the most fashionable jewels of the 1930s and 1940s, often made in pairs that could be worn apart or combined into a single brooch.
What to look for
Check that the clip mechanism closes firmly. Many clips were later converted to brooches or pendants, which should be disclosed.
