Cufflinks

Pairs of ornaments that fasten a shirt cuff.

Cufflinks became widely worn in the nineteenth century. The great houses made them in gold, enamel, hardstone and gems, often to commemorate an occasion, which makes them a rich area for collectors.

What to look for

Check the fittings, which take the most wear, and make sure both links of the pair match.
