The story
Flat curb links lie close together and turn as one, catching a soft sheen of gold.
The necklace is a long curb-link chain, 8.0 mm wide, its links twisted flat so that the strand drapes as a smooth, continuous band rather than a rope. At even intervals the gold stops for small circular stations of white metal, each one densely pavé-set with round diamonds whose combined weight is approximately 4.50 carats. The white of these round settings against the warm yellow chain gives a clear two-color rhythm, and each round station is about as wide as the chain itself, so it fits into the line rather than sitting on top of it. At 119.6 grams, the necklace has real weight in the hand, and that weight is what lets the links fall straight and settle evenly against the body.
Bulgari, the Roman house, became known in the postwar decades for confident yellow gold and for frank, substantial forms that set it apart from the French maisons. This necklace belongs to that language: a familiar chain made in a generous gauge and paired with diamonds set in a direct, graphic way.
At 84.5 cm long, it can be worn as a single long strand or looped twice to form two tiers, one high at the collarbone and one lower, as shown on the model.
The diamond discs give a regular beat of white light along a heavy flow of gold, and the necklace wears its weight with ease.
