Heart-shaped cut
A brilliant cut in the outline of a heart, with two lobes and a point.
The heart shape has been used in jewelry for centuries as a motif, but as a faceted diamond cut it became widely popular in the twentieth century. It is one of the most difficult shapes to cut well, since both halves must mirror each other exactly.
What to look for
Check that the two lobes are even and the cleft between them is crisp, and look for chips at the point, which is the most exposed part of the stone.
