This French Cartier pendant from the 1950s is fashioned in 18k yellow gold around a boldly rounded lapis lazuli ball, suspended beneath a simple polished gold ring. The stone’s domed form gives the piece an almost architectural presence, while its natural pyrite inclusions lend the blue a faint, star-like shimmer. Substantial at 78.5 grams, it has the unusual authority of an object-jewel: part pendant, part small sculpture, with a generous scale that makes the lapis feel almost talismanic.
