René Boivin

Paris house founded in 1890, famous for its sculptural animals and bold designs by remarkable women.

After René Boivin’s death in 1917 the house was run by his widow Jeanne, sister of the couturier Paul Poiret. With designers Suzanne Belperron, Juliette Moutard and her daughter Germaine Boivin, she created starfish, animals and bold gold jewels that were decades ahead of their time.

Signature and marks

Many Boivin jewels are unsigned and are identified by French marks, design and archival records.
