Cartier Aquamarine & Diamond Brooch France, Circa 1910

Prix de vente$16,500.00 USD

A jewel from the twilight of the Belle Époque—refined, elegant, and quietly sophisticated.

Created by Cartier around 1910, this brooch reflects the graceful transition between Edwardian lightness and the structured modernity that would soon follow. Its design is symmetrical yet fluid, composed with restraint and balance rather than the bold geometry of later decades.

Two elongated aquamarines, totaling approximately 1.0 carat, anchor the composition with their cool, crystalline blue. Their vertical placement enhances the brooch’s refined proportions. At the center, a column of white diamonds—approximately 0.7 carats total—introduces brilliance and contrast, while an additional round diamond at the base provides a subtle focal point of light. The cobalt blue enamel accent at the top adds depth and chromatic tension, elevating the composition with a distinctly early 20th-century sensibility.

Crafted in gold and measuring 2.3 cm in length by 3.1 cm in width, this brooch weighs 6.97 grams. Signed Cartier and made in France, it remains in very good condition—an elegant example of the maison’s pre-Art Deco craftsmanship.
