1950s Cartier Malachite and Citrine Flower Brooches
Two Flowers, One in Green and One in Amber
Gold petals curl outward around hardstone centers, each held by a single point of diamond light.
This pair of Cartier flower brooches was made in France during the 1950s in 18k yellow gold. Each bloom is formed from broad, gently folded gold petals with a softly sculptural, almost ribbon-like contour. One is centered with a round malachite cabochon, its concentric green bands drawing the eye inward; the other carries a warm citrine cabochon of clear amber tone. A small diamond sits at the heart of each flower, giving the composition a precise flash of white against the saturated stones and polished gold. Together, the pair has the charm of matched forms interpreted in different color, light, and mineral character.
Two small golden blooms, one shaded like a garden leaf, the other warm as late sun.
